Part/Day 1: We started on the Glooscap Trail just out of Windsor and drove along Hwy 14 & 215 East, all the way to Truro. We had heard so much about Cheticamp but found it underwhelming and at this point in Cabot Trail rather barren. However it was fascinating to listen to Arcadian language, an ancient version from court Louis X14, spoken.ĭuring our visit to NS in September we drove the Glooscap Trail in 3 parts really, each on a different day.and we quite enjoyed the whole drive.and there is lots to see along the way. Surprisingly we were not impacted by the hurricane Fiona. The deciduous trees were predominant over delicate maple trees so yellows and oranges of the fall still stood out if not somewhat burnt by the force of hurricane. But surprisingly to our relief it did not disappoint as images show. We spent 5 days on Cabot Trail in middle October. We decided to base ourselves in two locations - Ingonish to do northern section and Baddeck to do southern section rather than one night here and another there. So we spent three nights in Ingonish and focussed on Smokey Mountain,Skywalk and Bay Saint Lawrence. We stayed two nights in Baddeck and went as far as Skywalk via Cheticamp to view more dramatic coastal drive with a diversion to Inverary Cabot Trail is considered one of world's top coastal drive but is also famous for its Celtic and Arcadian heritage. It offers during its 300 kms vistas of Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Saint Lawrence as well as mountainous and valley terrains
